So many perfectly good words get ruined this way.

Words lose their original meaning, and new ones need to be created. This happens especially with words used to describe mentally disabled people. Think of words like idiot, retarded, or mental.

I think euphemisms are used too much these days. The use of euphemistic language for something that wasn't bad or shameful in the first place serves no purpose, and it can imply that something is bad when it isn't.
