I like George Washington. I think he did pretty well considering his time. We like to think that we would have done more against slavery had we lived in his time, but that's just self-flattery. How many of us are doing enough to fight slavery now? It still exists.

Are paper bags really worth it?

Many paper bags have plastic handles. The amount of plastic used is still much less than a plastic bag, but the bags are truly single use, and actually even less if it rains. A fully plastic bag can be used many times, so what is the ratio of plastic by volume to total uses?

I think a common rule that some parents have is that they provide items for the child's use, but the child only owns what he or she purchases with earned money. So the parents might even provide extras, such as a camera for the child to use, but they still own it. The parents can donate outgrown toy...

Back in the day, the answer would have been that they can start earning as soon as they become capable of doing some kind of work. But nowadays, it seems there are fewer earning opportunities for children. Still, it is good for children to have some practice earning and budgeting before they actuall...
